JDesignerPro
Product Comparison.

How do other Java products compare to JDesignerPro?

Microsoft Visual J++(tm) & Sun Java WorkShop(tm) & Symantec Cafe(tm)

These applications are a development environments for Java. They are designed to help track project development, manipulate code, archive classes and debug your code. These types of producta are great for general Java development and a necessary addition to a Java programmer's library.

There are several important differences between these development environments and JDesignerPro.

  1. JDP is specifically built for development of Java database GUIs to ODBC-compatible databases for the Internet or an Intranet. JDP is not a general purpose environment.
  2. JDP includes numerous, reusable, bug-free Java classes for fields, access control, tabs, grids, searches, filters, sorts, data lists, charts, and even HTML text display. All of these are geared for database interface design and data display.
  3. JDP includes database connectivity. JDP comes with a license to JAGG(tm), BulletProof's Java ODBC engine.

Visual Java & JFactory(tm)

These Java tools are good for placing various types of interface elements on a form using a visual method. They help create static forms that could be tied to a data source with substantial additional programming and software.

  1. JDesignerPro is also visual. You can create an entire interface without typing a single line of code.
  2. When you create an interface using JDP, it is active as soon as you're finished. This means that as you build the interface, JDP automatically writes the Java and SQL code to tie the fields to your database.
  3. JDP has built-in Java ODBC connectivity, using JAGG.
  4. By using JDP to build your front end, you are employing the experience BulletProof.com has gained laying out Java screens.

JAGG & Sun's JDBC(tm)

A critical element to any Java GUI is to have access to a data source. JAGG and JDBC are meant for this purpose. They are not Java applications of themselves. JAGG is part Java class and part server engine that know how to transfer data across the Net from a Java client to and from an ODBC backend source. JDBC is a protocol for Java clients to retrieve data from ODBC databases. JDesignerPro has the option to use the JaggServer for database connectivity, thereby utilizing the JDBC from Sun.

  1. JDesignerPro is much more than just Java ODBC connectivity. It is a GUI builder and Java code generator.
  2. JDP employs JAGG for its data access. They work together, not as separate applications.
